Olivia’s First Trip to the Zoo…

We went to the zoo this weekend.  I was a little nervous about the weather as we woke to a cold rain.  Even as we drove to meet up with Andrew the rain poured down on the car.  But miraculously the weather cleared up and we didn’t have more than a few sprinkles the whole afternoon.  The kids had a great time, and the adults did too.  This was the first time we’d been since they added the bears and they were well worth the visit.  The polar bear was very social and put on a good show for all the kids standing at the glass to watch.

The polar bear scared Joshua but Olivia loved being up close and personal!

A big gigantic thanks to Elaine for taking the pictures, since I left my camera in the car.

We enjoyed the Lego exhibit that was part of their summer programming.  Here are my little monkeys!

A Morning Run…

A neighboring stake was hosting a Zombie 5K this morning.  Basically there are two groups of runners, humans and zombies.  The humans had flags that they were trying to protect and we had a 3 minute head start on the zombies.  I only made it halfway through the run before the zombies got me.  At first I was confused because no one else around me lost their flag but I later learned the colors of the flags represented your age group and zombies could only take flags from their age group.  The kids came with me while Andrew helped a friend wheelbarrow cement.  It was actually a lot of fun.

On a completely different note, I finally have a wreath on my front door!

Just Singing and Dancing in the Rain

We were planning to lay sod today, but mother nature had different plans in store for us.  The sod farm has been rained out and unable to cut sod for us, so we’ve had to reschedule for next week.  This left us a free afternoon with nothing planned.

Hi Ho, Hi Ho, It’s Off to School We Go!…

Every year when we get to this time, all the teachers and students getting ready to start a new year, I feel kind of left out now that I’m not teaching anymore.  There is just something so exciting about the new beginning.  But this year has been fun getting excited for Joshua.

We are doing a preschool co-op. There are 8 families and we take turns teaching twice a week.

Joshua got homework the first day!  We had to put some show and tell objects in a bag.  Last night we were practicing what he would say and the first thing he “pulled out” was an imaginary egg that was ready to pop open and turn into a caterpillar.  He cracks me up!  I sure hope he does that at school too!
Lately Joshua is in love with Caterpillars.  We got a bunch of books from the library and as you can see he’s read them a few times.
(I'll have to get Andrew to help me put in the video clip here!)

Olivia loves his backpack too!
