San Diego Day 4!

This was our beach and travel home day.  We spent a few hours at a beach right in San Diego before it got too hot. Olivia loved holding her Daddy’s hand and letting waves wash over her legs.  Joshua mostly ran away from the waves and preferred digging in the sand.

  We were interviewed by their local channel 10 news crew who were doing a story on how people were staying cool in this heat wave.

It was a lovely drive home along the coast back up to Long Beach.  Joshua kept himself entertained with the lid of a cup popping the bubbles on top in and out.  Olivia was just a happy girl.

We had a fantastic time and now we are happy to be home and get back into our daily routine.

San Diego Day 3!

Since the Zoo doesn’t open until 10:00 we went to play at the beach at Coronado in the morning.  The kids LOVED the ocean (and we did too!)  It was a quiet morning and no one was around so we had this beautiful beach all to ourselves.

Then we headed back to the zoo. 

We didn’t end up staying long because it was hot and hilly and Joshua just wanted to go back to Sea World.  So after lunch we headed for Sea World again.

Olivia was not as scared of the characters today, and we actually got some pictures with her this time.  Can you tell my kids loved the Sesame Street area?

We watched the dolphin show because it was so spectacular, although this time we did not sit in the splash zone.

We also spent a lot of time out the tide pools looking at and picking up sea stars.

Then back to play at Sesame Street.

We spent the afternoon/evening just doing whatever the kids were interested in and they had so much fun.  We stayed until the park closed and then tried to keep the kids awake to go get some dinner.  I think we totally wore them out this day.
On just a little side note, the first day we went to the store and picked up some food for lunches, but somehow Andrew and I both failed to notice that there was no mini fridge in our room.  So this is our creative solution to keep the milk and sandwiches cold, a make shift cooler.  We filled the garbage can with ice wrapped in towels and placed in front of the AC.  We just replaced the ice every time we came back and it worked like a charm.

San Diego Day 2

We spent the morning wandering around Old Town, which has a little historic area of restored pioneer era buildings.  Nothing was opened yet but we enjoyed the opportunity to explore without a crowd.

Then we headed to the zoo.

Don’t you love how many pictures we have of fake animals?  The kids loved being able to climb on them.

Once the kids were exhausted we headed back to the hotel for a little afternoon siesta.  While the rest of us tried to lay down and get some rest, this guy ran laps.

We went back to Old Town for dinner, went through a few of the buildings and then visited the Mormon Battalion Monument where the kids got to pan for gold.  We ended our day with a dip on the pool.
