Let's Play Ball...

After Family Home Evening Joshua plaed catch with his Daddy.  I love his giggle.
Then he played some basketball.  He's pretty good, don't you think?

Scrapes, bumps and bruises…

One of the hardest things about Joshua learning to walk and climb is when he gets hurt.  I hate to see him get scraped up, but I can’t very well hold him and not let him learn.  Luckily he is a tough boy and doesn’t let it bother him.

Yesterday I cleaned all of the windows, inside and out, so Joshua had a lot of crawling exploring time.  We also went to visit the neighbors and Joshua loved the pipe for their sprinkler system.

On Sunday, every time I tried to feed Joshua he would squirt the food back out of his lips.  I thought it was pretty funny, and luckily only lasted one day.

ButtonMad Give-Away

I won some buttons!  I ran across this give-away of homemade buttons
the other day when I was looking at my crafty blogs.

Aren’t they fantastic?   I’m sure I’ll find a project to show them off.  Each button is handmade and then dried in the African sun.  Here is a photo of the women who make them.

Aren’t they beautiful?  I wish we had traditional clothes (something more interesting than t-shirts and jeans)

First Trip to the Zoo…

Liz and I decided to get a year pass to the Zoo so we can take our kiddos a lot this summer.  We went yesterday, the first time Joshua has ever been to the zoo and I was afraid our entire trip was going to go like this…

Fast Asleep!

But he finally woke up when we were hiding from the rain by the elephants.

We all had a great day in spite of the rain, and we’re looking forward to our next trip and getting to see some shows and other things we didn’t do because of the rain.

Last night Joshua got a candy bar from the bagger at Macey’s and we let him hold it as we drove home.  He chewed right threw the wrapper, and this is what it looked like when we got home.

Hello Sunshine!

I am so glad it stopped raining and we’ve finally been able to enjoy some sunshiny days.  Joshua and I spent the morning working in the yard.  He sat along side of me pulling weeds (putting an occasional flower or rock in his mouth.)  We set up a little slide for him in the backyard.  He’s not quite big enough for it, but I think he’ll enjoy it later this summer.

Then we were off to play with cousins.  Now that everyone is past being sick, (no more spots and runny noses!) the kids got to spend the afternoon together.  Although this may look like slave labor, he absolutely loves pushing around this little bus with someone on it.

He seems to have a harder time going to bed when its still light outside, so this is what Joshua was doing when he was supposed to be asleep…

But what can I say: Like father, like son.

Polka Dots

Some times polka dots can be good…

And sometimes not so good…

We took Joshua in to the doctor to have this checked.  Apparently it’s not hives, it is probably caused by a virus and will go away by itself in a week or so.  But it’s a good thing we went in to the doctor or we wouldn’t know that he has a DOUBLE ear infection.  This might explain why he’s been fussy this week.  Hopefully now that he’s on antibiotics we can all go back to sleeping better at night.

Backyard Progress

We hauled in a ton (literally) of sand to lay under the pavers and get our new patio area ready for the gazebo.  My Dad and Theron were very helpful at shoveling and wheel barreling the sand to the backyard and Andrew’s Dad came and built the floor for the shed.  It made for a long day, but it’s nice to feel like we made some good progress.  Thanks for all the help, we could not have done it all ourselves.

Joshua helped by supervising and testing the sand. It met his approval.

He probably got a little too much sun the first day, so I made him a little sun hat for the second day.  It is reversible.  Plaid on one side and polka dots on the other.

Time to Play

Sorry to all my faithful readers, I know I’ve been slacking at keeping you up to date on our boy.  Life has been crazy with the funeral, and Joshua has been sick, but I think he’s almost done with that, and now life can get back to normal (or something like normal.)

Here is our little explorer crawling through his tunnel

And here he is the other day shredding up a napkin into little tiny pieces.

Don’t you just love this happy kid?
